Netflix Top 100 - 66.- Julie & Julia
Julia Child is an iconic figure in American Cooking Culture and Streep brings to life this character for everyone to enjoy. This movie based upon the book and popular blog of Julie Powell's cooking exploits, follows Powell's life as she tries to cook every dish conceived by Child in a year's time. As she makes each one of these flavorful dishes Powell, played by Amy Adams, reminisces on the life of Julia Child and how she came to be the first cooking star of American television.
The direction is wonderful in this movie as it moves seamlessly back and forth between Julia Child's struggles in the past, and Julie Powell's struggles in the future to cook every meal in Child's consummate book on French cooking. As the movie progresses, the audiences sees what a struggle it was for Child to get her book published, and how she became a seminal star of the culinary arts. It's a heart warming movie and worth it to Just Queue It!
